Kagiso Rabada has been right into the face of the touring Aussies in the ongoing test series and the visitors have surely not taken a liking to it. They appear a tad frustrated at the aggression of the fast bowler and Mitchell Mash’s reaction to him on the fourth day of the second test match was a testimonial of that.

As the fourth day’s play started, the onus was on Mitchell Marsh and Tim Paine, who were the overnight batsmen, to stitch together a substantial partnership and make sure Australia get a reasonable lead in the second innings for the bowlers to have something to bowl at. But Rabada had other plans. The ball was reverse swinging a tad and the right arm pacer fired in an absolute thunder of a ball which Mitchell Marsh had no answer to.

Marsh has no answer for Rabada’s pace

It pitched at a perfect length and jagged back into the batsman at a very high pace. Marsh was beaten by the sheer speed of it. He was playing for the incoming ball alright, but the pace was too much for him to handle. He was late on the shot and the ball hit his thighs before ricocheting onto the stumps to give South Africa the first breakthrough of the morning.

Marsh was completely rattled by the dismissal and as he saw Rabada celebrating ferociously, the Australian all-rounder lost it and uttered a couple of cuss words at the bowler. It wasn’t too hard to lip read what he said and it will be interesting to see if ICC takes some action on it.

This series between Australia and South Africa has been pretty fiery right from the word go with David Warner and Quinton de Kock indulging themselves into a nasty altercation in the first test match in Durban and then Rabada getting into a slight physical contact with the Australian skipper Steve Smith on the first day of the second test match in Port Elizabeth.

ICC is having a close look at the affairs and it shouldn’t be surprising if Marsh also has to cope with some punishment at the hands of match referee.
