Foreign players have been the match-winners for their respective franchises over the years in the Indian Premier League (IPL). And, one of these marquee cricketers is Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc, who was bought by the Kolkata Knight Riders for a record price of 9.4 crores at the IPL 2018 auctions.
Starc becomes the most expensive foreign buy for KKR in the history of IPL
The current leader of the Australian bowling attack was added to the KKR firepower attack and he became their most expensive foreign cricketer in the entire 10 years of history of the IPL. The Aussie went past the tally of his new IPL teammate Sunil Narine, who was bought by KKR in 2016 for price worthy amount of 9.25 crores.
Earlier during the retentions, the franchise had already retained the Windies duo of Sunil Narine and Andre Russell as their only two foreign retentions. Starc would surely be looking to depict his worth for his new IPL team as he has been doing the job in the previous seasons.
KKR looking a strong bowling attack already
With one of the best bowlers in the shortest format of the game in their ranks in, Andre Russel, Mitchell Starc and Sunil Narine, KKR are looking to add to their strengths in the bowling department. These three players are surely proven match-winners at this level with their rare and different abilities and talents.
Starc will be needing to deliver highly with the bowl in the opening as well as the crucial death overs, as he has also got the ability to bowl those yorkers at any stage of the game, which makes him the rare commodity he is. Also, Narine has also been incredible for KKR over the years and he can also now play explosively with the bat in hand as the opener, as he holds the record of scoring the fastest fifty in the history of IPL.
