The last few weeks have been challenging for Indian citizens, with the COVID-19 catastrophe taking the country by storm. Lakhs of new cases were reported every day, while many even lost their lives to the deadly virus. Fortunately, many prominent firms and celebrities have come forward in these testing times to help the needy ones. While several big names have been providing oxygen concentrators, many distributed food, and other necessities. Mitali Raj’s father has also contributed to the noble cause.

On Wednesday, the Indian women cricket team captain took to Twitter and shared a picture of her father, Dorai Raj, distributing food grains to auto drivers. Last year, Mithali started helping needy people with food and other essentials amid the testing times. As the veteran cricketer is away from home now, her father has been fulfilling the duties. While Mithali lauded her dad for continuing her initiative, the talismanic batter also took a dig at him for not wearing the mask properly.

Mithali Raj pokes fun at her father

“Distribution of food grains and a small amount for sustenance being given to auto drivers by the Mithali raj initiative, something I started last year to do my bit in these COVID times . Dad doing the honours in my absence. Only problem is his mask,” tweeted Mithali while sharing pictures of his dad’s noble actions.

Meanwhile, Mithali is currently serving quarantine in Mumbai ahead of Team India’s tour of England. Both the Indian men and women team would travel to England on June 2 via a chartered flight. While Virat Kohli and Co would spend another isolation period in Southampton, the women’s team is likely to stay in Bristol.

It will be a full-fledged tour for the India Women team with one Test, three ODIs, and as many T20Is lined up. Hence, the Women in Blue must gear up to lock horns with the Three Lions in their own den. While Mithali will lead the Test and ODI team, Harmanpreet Kaur will handle the reins of the T20I side.

Meanwhile, the Indian women team last met South Africa at home, and they didn’t have a memorable series. They lost the ODIs 1-4 before facing a 1-2 defeat in T20Is. Hence, it would be interesting to see if they can change their fortunes against England.
