The Senior Women’s T20 League is currently in progress in India where Mizoram and Madhya Pradesh locked horns on Thursday. The match took place at the Palmyra Cricket Ground in Pondicherry where Mizoram Women bagged an embarrassing record. They were bundled out for just nine runs in 13.5 overs which only highlighted the lack of talent in Women’s cricket across the country.

Interestingly, Mizoram had opted to bat first after winning the toss only to lose wickets continuously. Only their number five batter Apurwa Bharadwaj could open her account as she scored six runs after facing 25 deliveries. She also scored a solitary boundary in the innings during her brief stay in the middle. The rest of her teammates just put an attendance on the 22 yards and went back.

Extras also played their part as two wides and a leg-bye was added to the total. Mizoram got bowled out for just 9 runs in the 14th over. Tarang Jha was the best bowler for Madhya Pradesh as she bowled 23 dot balls during her four-over spell and conceded only two runs to pick up as many as four wickets.

Out of the seven bowlers used by Madhya Pradesh, only one of them went wicketless while all others had a field day in the middle.

MP chase down in the first over

The target was like a joke for Madhya Pradesh as they didn’t mess around much and gunned it down in the first over itself. Apurws Bhardwaj bowled the only over for Mizoram as she also gave away five wides to the opposition and they didn’t even have to score a boundary to win the game. Babita Mandalik and Tarang Jha opened for MP and remained unbeaten to register one of the biggest victories in T20 cricket in terms of balls to spare.

Registering low scores is not new in this tournament this season as even Manipur Women scored only 16 runs and lost nine wickets after playing their full quota of 20 overs.
