As India celebrated its 72nd Independence Day, the whole of Twitter was filled with patriotism. Even the Indian cricketers took to the micro-blogging site to wish everyone on the day we attained freedom. Right from Master blaster Sachin Tendulkar to VVS Laxman, everyone has sung various praises for the freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for the country.

While Pakistan celebrated its Independence Day yesterday, it was India’s turn to do the same today. The Pakistani cricketers engaged in a wonderful gesture to wish a happy Independence day to the Indian contingent. After Shoaib Malik and Shahid Afridi, it was Pakistani all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez who conveyed his wishes to the Indian fans on Twitter.

The gesture from Pakistan cricketers is being loved and the fans are praising them for wishing India on its Independence Day.

Here’s what he tweeted:-

For a change, it was good to see the unity amongst people in both the countries. Known for being arch rivals on the cricket field, their games have always ignited another level of entertainment. However, off the field, the cricketers from both teams share immense respect for each other. It was good to see the fans also sharing pleasantries on this auspicious occasion.

The last time both these sides came up against each other on the cricket field, Pakistan had the last laugh. In what was probably one of the most watched cricket game ever, the Men in Green managed to topple India for a sensational win. However, India haven’t forgotten it yet and the Men in Blue will be up for revenge in their next encounter.

India are scheduled to play against Pakistan in next month’s Asia Cup. Currently, they have been quite vested in the England tour. While India are the No.2 ranked ODI side in the world, Pakistan are ranked at a distant fifth position. However, when both teams come face to face, you just can’t pick a favourite out of them.
