During the recent ODI series between Pakistan and Sri Lanka, all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez became the latest victim of suspect bowling action yet again for the men in green and has already left for England for the assessment of bowling action.

Hafeez is now the fourth Pakistani bowler who has been questioned for a suspect action after the likes of Shoaib Akhtar, Shabbir Ahmed, Saeed Ajmal. Also, Hafeez is now the 13th player from the sub-continent, who has been reprimanded for a foul bowling action.

The likes of Harbhajan Singh, Kumar Dharmasena, Abdur Razzak, Taskin Ahmed, Sohag Gazi, Sachithra Senanayake, Muttiah Muralitharan and many others have been called for suspect bowling action.

Not the first time his action was questioned

Hafeez is all set to undergo a bowling action assessment on November 1. Prior to boarding the flight for the United Kingdoms, Mohammad Hafeez was optimistic about him clearing the bowling action test as he claimed,”My bowling action is natural,” told the cricketer to the media according to Brecorder.

As a matter of fact, this is not the first time Hafeez’s action has come under scrutiny. He was first reported for a suspect action in 2014. In July 2015, he was banned from bowling in international cricket for 12 months after his action was found to be illegal for the second time since November 2014.

That said, he then returned to bowling in 2016 after clearing the test in Brisbane lab. Before Hafeez, Pakistan’s ace spinner Saeed Ajmal was also suspended for an illegal bowling action. He too returned to international cricket after clearing his action in 2016.

During the eight matches of the limited-over leg of the Sri Lankan tours, Sarfaraz used the experienced Hafeez extensively as he clinched 6 wickets at a decent economy. Hafeez now has 136 wickets to his name in the 195 matches he has represented Pakistan.
