34-year old Pakistan pacer Mohammad Irfan has taken the early flight back home to Pakistan following the death of his mother. Irfan, who has been a major part of the limited overs’ outfit had seemingly got his lucky break after having been named in the side despite the injury problems he has been having in recent times.

Moreover, there has also been some issues in recent times for Irfan as he has been in poor form of late. He also suffered an injury in the ODI series against the West Indies, something that prompted coach Mickey Arthur to lash out at him for his fitness.

Moreover, his issues have also been compounded by the fact that he usually suffers from side strains and bad hamstring issues that have usually ruled him out of matches. Irfan hasn’t appeared for Pakistan since partaking in a series against England last year, where he failed to complete his quota of ten overs after dismissing the openers early on.

Moreover, at 34, he is at the stage in his career wherein the swansong becomes the main point of focus despite some promising bowling acumen.

However, as far as Pakistan would be concerned, the loss of someone like Irfan, who can get them wickets on fast and pacy wickets such as those in Australia is a body blow, to say the least. In addition, the 3-0 hammering at the hands of the hosts has also been something that the Pakistanis would be looking to overturn when they don their green sweats and jumpers.

Ahmad Shahzad and Shahid Afridi went on to share their sentiments to the 34-year old on twitter in what will surely be an extremely difficult time for the family.
