It has been quite some time since Mohammad Kaif has played against the best in the world at the international level. Since then, he has seamlessly slipped away from the spotlight and become somewhat of a forgotten and unheard of name in the vast and heavy labyrinth of the Indian domestic scenario. However, all that is left of Kaif at the moment is the glory days, something he can look back on with little or no regrets.
While the scrapbook of Mohammad Kaif will speak of victories in the 2002 NatWest series against England, a win in the 2000 edition of the U19 World Cup, there will certainly be one trophy that Kaif will keep close to his heart and will have a special page on for his scrapbook. Although there would be just a couple of pictures on it, Kaif and his side of the U15, a picture that will certainly be close to his heart and something that he will take to his grave.
The picture shows a young Kaif shaking hands with a parliamentary official in 1996 shortly after the Indian side made their way back to India shortly after defeating Pakistan in the final of the Lombard U15 Challenge Cup. The match featured some of the players who have played internationally for India and Pakistan. The Indian side had just 2 players who would go on to represent India on the international level – Reetinder Sodhi and Mohammad Kaif.

Kaif felt the need to tweet about the same, with his throwback tweet reading: “20 years ago today, won the U-15 World Cup with India, defeating Pakistan in the final! #Memories #Throwback #Lord’s”
