Mohammad Rizwan is a better captain than Babar Azam: Shaheen Afridi

Shaheen Afridi also opined that Babar Azam has led the Pakistan side in fantastic fashion, and will rank as the second-best captain.

Shaheen Afridi was appointed as the skipper of the Lahore Qalandars side ahead of the 2022 edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). And, the left-arm seamer has now stated that Mohammad Rizwan is better than Babar Azam in terms of leading the side.

Adding that he likes Rizwan’s personality, Shaheen revealed that he started playing domestic cricket with Rizwan, and the wicketkeeper batter is the best captain that he has played under. Shaheen also opined that Babar Azam has led the Pakistan side in fantastic fashion, and will rank as the second-best captain.

“I like [Mohammad] Rizwan’s personality. I started playing domestic competition with him from KPK’s side and I would rate him as the best. Since Babar has done a fantastic job with the national team, I will rank him second,” said Shaheen Afridi as quoted by Cricket Pakistan.

Shaheen Afridi also opined that Babar Azam is the best willow wielder, as well as his favourite batter. The 21-year-old concluded by stating that Azam has done a fantastic job as the skipper of the Pakistan side, and the ‘Men in Green’ have reached great heights under Azam’s stewardship.

“Babar Azam is my favorite batsman and he is the number one batter as well. He has done fantastically well as a captain for the national team and we are reaching new heights under him,” concluded Shaheen Afridi.

Shaheen Afridi has represented the Pakistan side in 21 Tests, 28 ODIs, and 39 T20Is. While he has prized out 86 batters in the longest format of the game, Afridi has scalped 53 wickets in ODIs. In T20I cricket, the left-arm seamer has taken 45 wickets.
