Veteran Afghanistan cricketer Mohammad Shahzad is known to be a funny character in the team. No matter which team he plays for, he ensures that he keeps the mood light in the dressing room. Shahzad is a popular name in the modern day cricket. He had his claim to fame with his exceptional six hitting ability. Time and again, he has shown what brute power can do in the shortest format of the game.
No wonder why, despite often being judged for his fitness levels, Shahzad has managed to stay afloat in the business with his batting charisma. It is worth noting that there was a time when Mohammad Shahzad was sacked from the team for his fitness issues.
However, he made a comeback to the side riding on some herculean hits across the various leagues and in the domestic competition as well. After his comeback, he had also made a controversial statement wherein he had noted that he does not need to be supremely fit if he can hit bigger sixes than Virat Kohli. While the debate continues, Shahzad has found his own ways to show he is quite fit too.
Currently, he is plying his trade for the Chittagong Vikings in the ongoing edition of the Bangladesh Premier League. In a recent game against the Comilla Victorians, Shahzad managed to tickle the funny bones of many with his attempt to show his fitness. The action perspired in the 16th over of the runchase of the Victorians.
On the third ball of the over, Abu Jayed bowled a full length delivery, and the batsman Imrul Kayes was tempted to swing at it. The ball was angled across, and Kayes swung his bat at it, but only to get a thick outside edged. Mohammad Shahzad safely pocketed the catch. And it was right then, when Shahzad decided to mock his haters. After taking the catch safely, Shahzad rolled over to show that he actually dived to take the catch. Perhaps, he just showed that if need be, he can dive as well!
