Mohammed Shami might have had a decent tour of England over the last few months but on the home front, there is still no end to the dark tunnel. The 28-year-old pacer was to visit the CJM court in Kolkata’s Alipore on September 20 for a case between him and his wife Hasin Jahan. But after his lawyer told the judge that the cricketer was not able to come to the court because of some reasons, the judge wasn’t amused and the fast bowler could be in serious trouble.

Shami’s estranged wife, who has been bringing a series of charges against her husband, had filed a case against the latter alleging that the cheque which he gave her bounced when she went to the bank to encash it. The hearing for the case was on Thursday but the Team India cricketer did not turn up.

What if Shami skips the date again?

The next date of the hearing is November 14 and if Shami fails to turn up in the court on that day as well, the court may issue a non-bailable warrant against him, according to Xtratime.com. Hasin Jahan, a professional model and a former cheerleader for Indian Premier League (IPL) team Kolkata Knight Riders, had quit her profession after marrying the cricketer in 2014.

She had told the media that she sacrificed her career because of her husband as he did not like it. She also said that once Shami deserted her, she was striving to reclaim back her fame and popularity she had once achieved. Moreover, Hasin had accused Shami of domestic violence and indulging in extra-marital affairs.

In August, she lost the maintenance litigation after the Alipore court refused to accept her demands. She demanded Rs 10 lakh per month but was turned down by the court. The court, nevertheless, approved the maintenance claim of Rs 80,000 per month for the duo’s daughter Airah Shami, as per reports.

Team India is scheduled to tour Australia early in the December for a four-match Test series and Shami will have to somehow manage his court hearings to not miss the all-important contest.
