After slamming accusation of extramarital affairs against her husband, Indian cricketer Mohammed Shami via a series of Facebook posts on Wednesday, Hasin Jahan followed up her actions by filing a complaint against the Indian pacer and his family with the Kolkata Police.

The FIR that was lodged was not only for illegitimate relationships but for emotional and physical abuse, attempt to murder and a charge of rape against Shami’s elder brother as well. Though Kolkata Polic Commissioner Rajeev Kumar and Joint Commissioner of Crime Praveen Kumar Tripathi were not available for any comments, her lawyer Zakir Hussain assured the media that the authorities have started non-bailable cases on the accused.

BCCI should take some action

In such a situation, Jahan pleads the BCCI to take strict necessary actions against her husband, or else other cricketers might also follow his footsteps without the authorities knowing anything.

“If today I do not take this matter to the BCCI then other players will also get the courage to do such things. If all this is happening under the nose of the board, then they should take some action,” she said.

Jahan had previously stated that Shami was romantically involved with a Pakistani woman called Alisbah, from whom he took some money in Dubai and was somehow was in touch with match-fixing and sex racketeering via her and another associate called Mohammed Bhai.

Withheld his contract

BCCI has already withheld their contract with Shami from the new compensation structure they announced on Wednesday and will be waiting out the procedure until the situation had a bit more clarity. “We’re deliberating on this sensitive issue and once we reach a conclusion, we can comment on it,” said a BCCI official.

This also puts IPL franchise Delhi Daredevil in a fix as Shami was definitely going to be an integral part of their upcoming campaign.

As per reports, the sections of IPC with which Shami is charged as of now are 307 for attempting murder, 328 for causing hurt by means of poison, 506 for criminal intimidation and 498A for domestic abuse; while his family is indicted with Section 34 for acts by several persons in furtherance of common intention and his elder brother is charged with Section 376 for rape.
