The shortest format of the game is considered to be ruthless. With a little bit of power and bat swing, batsmen can take on the strongest of the bowlers. Bowlers have found it difficult in the middle as batsmen are coming up with innovative shots to which they have no answer. It has become increasingly necessary for the bowlers to have a minimum of 3-4 variations up their sleeves to bowl a fairly economical over.

Heading into the game against KKR, the Delhi Daredevils were on the back of an excellent run chase against the Mumbai Indians. The Knight Riders needed to be at their top to prevent a happy homecoming for Gautam Gambhir. KKR scored 200 runs and in reply, the Daredevils bundled out for a paltry 129 handing them a 71 run win. Nitish Rana and Andre Russell were the stars for KKR with the bat, with the latter scoring a quick-fire 41 off just 12 balls, which featured six massive sixes. Interestingly, Mohammed Shami was on the receiving end on all six occasions.

Horrid spell

Mohammed Shami ended with dismal figures of 4-0-53-1. Russell was smacking the bowler deep into the stands and Gautam Gambhir stood out of ideas. Shami became the laughing stock of fans on social media, who were quick to whip up witticisms at the bowler’s expense.

The fast bowler did not have a good time in the past few months due to personal issues. Fans were quick to comment on his performance by mentioning his personal issues as well. One user even tweeted: “The way Russell is hitting Shami it looks like he is hired by especially by Shami’s estranged wife~#korbolorbojitbo” These tweets must be very disturbing for Shami as a lot is going on in his life at the moment and the last thing that he wants is for someone to compare his personal life with on-field performance.
