Following the heartbreak in the first Test, the Bangladesh selectors have made a rather bold statement by roping in spinner Mossadek Hossain and Subashis Roy for the second Test match against England to be played at the Sher-e-Bangla stadium in Dhaka. Bangladeshi pacer Shafiul Islam has been left out of the side due to tiredness and fatigue.

However, the bigger concern as far as the Bangladeshi coaching staff as well as the management is concerned would be the fact that Sabbir Rahman is a bit under the weather at the moment. Sabbir, who made his debut in the first Test against the Brits in the first Test at Chittagong had impressed quite a bit as he smashed 64 runs in the second innings as Bangladesh hung in and around a victory.

Chief Selector Minhazul Abedin revealed, “We have rested Shafiul because he got really tired playing his first Test in a long time. We have called up (Mosaddek Hossain) Saikat as cover for Sabbir who got sick in Chittagong.”

Mossadek Hossain is one of the better Bangladeshi batsmen in the domestic circuit. Having played just the 18 matches thus far, Mossadek has helped himself to 7 centuries apart from the fact that he has claimed 16 wickets as well. The southpaw had impressed with some impressive performances in his ODI debut against Afghanistan the previous month.

Subashis Roy is a slightly more experienced campaigner when it comes to playing domestic cricket. A medium pacer at the age of 27 has finally managed to claw his way into the side. He has 136 wickets from 51 matches in the Bangladesh domestic circuit thus far.

Updated Bangladesh squad for the 2nd Test: Mushfiqur Rahim (c) (wk), Tamim Iqbal, Soumya Sarkar, Imrul Kayes, Mominul Haque, Mahmudullah, Shakib Al Hasan, Shuvagata Hom, Sabbir Rahman, Mehedi Hasan, Taijul Islam, Kamrul Islam Rabbi, Mosaddek Hossain, Nurul Hasan and Subashis Roy
