Most Test wins by a team in 2015

The year 2015 witnessed some fascinating Test cricket. India scripted a remarkable comeback in Sri Lanka and at home, the team dominated against South Africa. The year witnessed an Ashes win for England at home. The first ever day-night Test at Adelaide made headlines around the world as Australia won against New Zealand at home and then hammered the West Indies. Pakistan also had a wonderful year in Test cricket registering series wins against Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and England. Zimbabwe was the only team that didn’t play a single Test in 2015. Here’s a look the most wins by a team in Test cricket this year. 9. Bangladesh – 0: Bangladesh. (Photo Source: AFP) Bangladesh had a highly successful year in ODIs, however, failed to impress in the longest format of the game having played all of its 5 Tests at home. The team lost a 2-match series against Pakistan by a margin of 1-0. The one-off Test against India was dominated by the visitors and the team was lucky to escape with a draw thanks to rain. The other 2 Tests against South Africa were also affected by rain and failed to produce a result. 8. West Indies – 1: West Indies. The team played 10 Tests, lost 8, drew 1 and won a solitary match. The year began with a loss against South Africa in Cape Town. England travelled to the Caribbean and the 3-match series ended 1-1 after a drawn first Test. The West Indies registered their only win of the year in the 3rd Test at Barbados ensuring a shared series. The team travelled to Sri Lanka and was blanked 2-0 followed by the tour to Australia. The Aussies have already pocketed the 3-match series by 2-0 with the last Test to be played from 3rd January 2016. 7. South Africa – 1: South Africa. (Photo Source: BCCI) The number one Test team in the world had a forgettable year in Test cricket. The only positive result achieved was at Cape Town against the Windies. The 2-match series in Bangladesh failed to produce a result while the team was beaten fair and square by India in an away series. The team lost the 4-match series by 3-0 with one Test ending in a draw due to rain. The Boxing Day Test at home against England was another heavy loss by 241 runs. The 4-match series is alive and will resume in the new year and the Proteas will be hoping to get back to winning ways. 6. Sri Lanka – 4: Sri Lanka. The home team lost the first Test and made a comeback in the second however failed to defend a huge score in the final Test. Next up was a visit by India. Sri Lanka won the first match which was a thrilling low-scoring encounter, however, lost the following 2 Tests. The home side, though, blanked a hapless West Indies 2-0 at home in the next series. The year ended as it had begun for the islanders with a 2-0 loss against the Kiwis in an away series. 5. New Zealand – 4: New Zealand. (© Getty Images) New Zealand stared the year with a win over Sri Lanka in January. After the ODI World Cup, the team toured England for a 2-match series. After losing the first Test at Lord’s the side came back strongly to win the Leeds Test and shared the series. The trip Down Under began with a loss in Brisbane however they showed character to draw the second match at Perth. The pink-ball Test was a dramatic affair which the Kiwis lost by a narrow margin after having their moments to drive home the advantage. A 2-0 win at home against Sri Lanka ended the year on a high for the versatile team. 4. Pakistan – 5: Pakistan. (© MARWAN NAAMANI/AFP/Getty Images) Pakistan played 8 matches, won 5, dew 2 and lost a solitary Test. In May, the team toured Bangladesh and registered a 1-0 win in the 2-match series. Consistent performances against Sri Lanka enabled a 2-1 win in the away series. England toured UAE and narrowly missed out on a win in the first Test however Pakistan gave them no chance in the remaining 2 matches winning both the matches by huge margins. 3. India – 5: India. (Photo Source: BCCI) India had a great year in Test cricket. Under the leadership of a new Test captain, Virat Kohli, the team produced the desired results. The year started with a draw against Australia in Sydney. In the one-off Test in Bangladesh, the team was denied a win by the weather as the match ended in a draw. India lost the first Test against Sri Lanka, however, made a remarkable comeback to take the series 2-1. India hammered South Africa by 3-0 at home and finished the year in a commanding manner. 2. England – 6: England. (© Getty Images) England toured West Indies and shared the 3-match series 1-1 after a drawn first Test. The home series against New Zealand also produced the same result as the 2-match series ended 1-1. This was followed by a triumphant Ashes campaign at home against old foes Australia which England won 3-2. The 2-0 loss against Pakistan was a disappointment, however, the year ended on a winning note against the Proteas at Durban. 1. The year began with a drawn Test at Sydney against India. The team toured West Indies and won the series 2-0. This was followed by the Ashes loss in England. A home series win by 2-0 against the Kiwis was followed by two wins against Windies in the ongoing series.
