Cricket fans must mark their calendars as the schedule for the T20 World Cup 2022 is out. The International Cricket Council (ICC) released the list of fixtures of Friday (January 21), which soon became a talking point in the cricketing world. After all, India and Pakistan, just like the 2021 edition, are set to kick-start their campaign against each other.

The mother of all clashes will take place on October 23 at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground. Needless to mention, fans of both nation went in frenzy and flooded social media with epic reactions. India and Pakistan have a history of rivalry over 22 yards and fans believe another classic encounter is on the cards. It must be noted that history was scripted when these two sides met last time around.

Pakistan ended India’s perfect streak in their last meeting

It was a clash in the T20 World Cup 2021 with the venue being the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Under Virat Kohli’s leadership, India walked into the game with a perfect World Cup record against the Men in Green. Prior to that contest, the two sides met 12 times in World Cup events – 7 in ODIs, 5 in T20Is – and India emerged winners every single time.

As India comprehensively defeated Australia and England in warm-up games, many backed the Men in Blue to extend the streak. However, the Babar Azam-led side had other plans. Shaheen Shah Afridi unleashed a lethal opening spell, dismissing openers Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul cheaply.

While the then skipper Virat Kohli slammed a half-century, he didn’t receive much support from the other end. Nevertheless, India managed to post a respectable 151/7 in their allotted 20 overs. While many thought Pakistan’s chase would be tough, Indian bowlers endured a horrendous time.

Skipper Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan put up a batting exhibition and tackled Indian bowlers with ease. Both openers slammed unbeaten half-centuries as Pakistan crossed the line in 17.5 overs, clinching the contest by 10 wickets. Under new skipper Rohit Sharma, India will fight for redemption this time around. On the other hand, Pakistan won’t mind replicating their heroics.

Meanwhile, let’s look at Twitterati reacted after the confirmation of the Indo-Pak fixture:
