Mohammed Shami and the ugly spat with wife Hasin Jahan has got uglier with the passage of time. Jahan has hurled allegations at his husband, saying that he has extra-marital affairs and is also involved in match-fixing scandals. Meanwhile, Jahan has also accused Shami of physically and mentally torturing her while blaming him and his family members for delivering death threats.

However, the current and former Indian cricketers have recently stood beside Shami during his turbulent times. Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the wicket-keeper batsman recently spoke in favour of Shami to the media “As much as I know, Shami is a great human being and he can’t cheat his wife and country. It is Shami’s personal life and we should not comment on it,” he was quoted as saying by Jansatta.com.

Chetan Chauhan, the former Indian cricketer, has also voiced his opinion and said that it has nothing to do with Shami’s withheld contract. “The good thing is they have not canceled the contract and only withheld it. I think the contract should go on because as far as the cricketer’s ability is concerned, it has nothing to do with it. And also he has not been pronounced guilty by the court,” he said.

Former World Cup-winning skipper Kapil Dev has dismissed the charges by Hasin Jahan. The Haryana Hurricane has questioned Hasin Jahan’s actions and hailed Shami as a hardworking cricketer. Meanwhile, he also mentioned the allegations as nasty and sickening until proven.

A case had been filed under sections 498A, 323, 307, 376, 506, 328, 34 of the Indian Penal Code against Shami and four others following Hasin Jahan’s complaint. Meanwhile, the allegations also mean that Shami’s participation for the Delhi Daredevils in the Indian Premier League also looks bleak. It will now be interesting to find out the new developments surrounding the matter.
