Virat Kohli, the Indian captain, is in the middle of a run-churning spree in international cricket. He first donned the national colours back in 2008 and has only grown in stature ever since. His is currently playing for India in the five-match Test series against England and has been stupendous thus far. He scored 149 and 51 runs respectively in the first match at Edgbaston in Birmingham.

He didn’t get ruffled by pressure and scored 149 and 51 runs respectively to keep the English bowlers at bay. Recently, he became the number one ranked batsman in Test cricket and emerged as the first Indian batter to accomplish the feat after Sachin Tendulkar in 2011. Recently, MS Dhoni, the 37-year old veteran hailed Virat’s quality as the captain and sounded delighted for him.

To win a Test match you need 20 wickets

“Virat is the best. He has reached a status where he is close to legend status. I am very happy for him. The way he has batted everywhere and the last few years he has been brilliant taking the team forward. That’s what you want from a leader. All the best to him and very well done,” Dhoni was quoted as saying at an event in Mumbai.

Dhoni also appreciated India’s bowlers for their impressive show after they picked up 20 wickets in the opening encounter. Moreover, the wicketkeeper-batsman put forth the importance of bowling oppositions out in order to win a Test match.

“To win a Test match you need 20 wickets. And we did that. That’s all I will say. It doesn’t matter how well you bat and how well you are there for five days but if you take 20 wickets, you can win a Test match,” the Jharkhand-born cricketer added.

After losing the first match and going 1-0 down in the series, Kohli and his men would be hoping to put up a strong show at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground in their next match, which starts on August 7.
