MS Dhoni, the former Indian skipper seems to be in trouble for having an association with Amrapali Group in the past. He was the brand ambassador until 2016 of the real estate group, who had amassed Rs 2,647 crore from the home buyers in order to provide them with the homes. However, the money taken from the people was diverted in different firms without completing the house projects.

In the list of accused Dhoni’s name has also been sought as per the FIR filed by the Delhi Police’s Economic Offences Wing on November 27. Amrapali Group was founded in 2003 and emerged as one of the biggest real estate group in the Northern belt of the country by 2010. But, it was brought under the scanner of Supreme Court after thousands of buyers lodged a complaint about not getting the flats from them.

On July 23, the Supreme Court passed the judgement according to which National Buildings Construction Corporation (NBCC) was asked to complete all the unfinished projects. The apex court also stated that Amrapali took an illegal route and diverted money of the homebuyers to different firms including those that are owned by Sakshi Dhoni. During the hearing, they also sent Anil K Sharma(CMD) and other directors to jail in contempt of cheating and fraud.

Buyers request authorities to check the role of MS Dhoni in the scam

In the latest FIR filed, the buyer has alleged that MS Dhoni was the brand ambassador of Amrapali and promoted them as well. And, looking forward to his stature in the country it looked quite authentic which lured the buyers to invest in the projects. So, he should also be added in the list of accused.

“He is part of a criminal conspiracy hatched by the accused persons. Therefore, he should be added as an accused in the said FIR,” buyers alleged in their respective FIRs according to Outlook Express. Another FIR mentioned that the impression of MS Dhoni in the country and the IIT pass out Anil K Sharma was the main reason behind buyers signing the agreement to the worst scenario possible. It further stated that the investigation department needs to check MS Dhoni’s role as well.

“With the impression of MS Dhoni as the legend of India cricket and Anil K Sharma as a professional builder with a degree from IIT buyers signed the agreement believing clauses of agreement as to the worst-case scenario. In the FIRs, Anil K Sharma and the other directors have been made accused. But we have requested the investigating agency to look into the role of MS Dhoni and made him an accused as well,” one of the complainants of the FIR said.
