Chennai Super Kings registered a scintillating victory last night over the Delhi Daredevils. Australia’s Shane Watson played a blistering knock of 78 while Dhoni hit a quick-fire unbeaten 51 to guide CSK to a 13-run victory over bottom-placed Daredevils.
Following skipper MS Dhoni’s heroics, Proteas batsman Faf du Plessis heaped praise on the wicketkeeper-batsman and said his ability to decimate any bowling lineup on his day makes him a serious threat to his opponents. In the last two games against Royal Challengers Bangalore and Daredevils, Dhoni, with his power hitting, has reminded his critics that he is not yet done.
Lauding the CSK skipper, Du Plessis who scored a clinical 33 yesterday said at the post-match talk, “He (Dhoni) is in really good form at the moment, so it’s extremely tough to bowl to him when he is in a form like that. He has got such a big arch and if you want to bowl wide he can still hit you to the leg side.”
The South African added, “He has got a lot of options, so it makes life difficult for a bowler and a captain because he can hit any ball to wherever he wants to. That kind of form is obviously very important to us.”
Ambati Rayudu has impressed with his flexibility
Faf du Plessis also praised Indian batsman Ambati Rayadu for his flexibility. Rayadu has delivered for CSK when asked to open and even he was required to bat at the number four position. The 33-year old has looked in sublime form and his performance serves as a testament to that.
The Andhra cricketer has been playing a crucial role in the CSK batting order and will be eager to keep his form going throughout the season. He is also the current owner of the orange cup, for being the leading run scorer with 370 runs at an average of 46.
