Former Indian captain and the three-time ICC event-winning leader Mahendra Singh Dhoni may not have played competitive cricket in the past eight months or so, but the Chennai Super King’s spearhead once again displayed- during a practice game- that he has still got it.

Chennai Super Kings are currently holding their pre-season preparatory camp at the Chepauk and Dhoni seems to be making optimum use of the opportunity to get himself into the groove before the real deal gets underway.

Dhoni recently took part in a practice game between his Chennai Super Kings teammates and as per the reports, the champion wicketkeeper-batsman shellacked the bowling attack to the tune of 123 off 91 deliveries. The videos are doing the rounds on social media where ‘Thala’ Dhoni- while batting with Suresh Raina- could be seen launching the likes of Piyush Chawla and Karn Sharma for Brobdingnagian sixes.

Fans will have to wait for a few more days before they finally see MS Dhoni in action

One of the many reasons why the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League is one of the most anticipated events among the fans is they’ll get to see MS Dhoni on a cricket field for the very first time since India’s heartbreaking defeat to New Zealand in the 2019 World Cup semi-finals.

Dhoni has been on a sabbatical since then and with every passing series that India played sans the former captain during the 2019-20 season, question mark galore on the International future of the CSK spearhead.

In fact, such has been the contention around Dhoni’s future that one of the common questions asked by the Cricket Advisory Committee [CAC] during the interview of the candidates for the selection committee post was how they’ll deal with the Dhoni conundrum.

Sunil Joshi was finally elected as the chairman of the selection committee and the former left-arm spinner revealed that Dhoni will only come in contention for national selection, provided he has a good IPL season.

Meanwhile, the fans will have to wait for few more days before they eventually get to see Dhoni on a cricket field as the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League has been pushed for a 15 April start- as opposed to the original schedule where Mumbai Indians were supposed to lock horns with Chennai Super Kings on March 29th.
