Former Indian skipper MS Dhoni is arguably the most popular face in Indian cricket at the moment. Albeit he is no longer the captain of the national setup, there is nothing that can keep him away from taking the leadership role. During the second ODI against Australia at Kolkata, Dhoni was at it yet again with his words of advise for the Indian bowlers.

The stump microphones managed to catch his words and the fans are surely loving the way he is helping the bowlers and nurturing the current skipper Virat Kohli. When Yuzvendra Chahal came in to bowl in the 15th over, Dhoni was heard asking Hardik Pandya to move a couple of steps back. He was expecting Steve Smith to come down the track. “Do kadam piche rahna (Stay back a couple of steps),” Dhoni quoted.

Later in the game, during the 23rd over, Dhoni was heard sharing a few words of advise to young leggie Yuzvendra Chahal. Chahal was bowling well but had the dangerous hitting batsman Glenn Maxwell to negotiate with. Chahal took the advise from Dhoni and bowled a leg stump line which the batsman failed to read and MS Dhoni completed the stumping in a flash.

“Ball jyada ghumega to dande me daal dena (If the ball turns a lot, bowl at the stumps),” Dhoni was heard saying to Chahal.

Kuldeep talks about Dhoni’s help

Young bowler, Kuldeep Yadav, who bagged a hattrick in the Kolkata ODI, remarked how he had approached MS Dhoni prior to the game and during the course of the game. He noted that he was taken aback after being hit for three sixes in the previous game by Glenn Maxwell. He had then spoken to Dhoni who advised him to keep things natural.

“Not really (could never dream it). Initially I was struggling to bowl in a particular area. It’s a game of cricket, everything happens. Last match, where I was hit for three sixes in an over, was a learning experience. Asked Mahi bhai what I should bowl, he said ‘tujhe jaisa lagta hai wo daal (bowl what you want)’. This is special for me, changed the game for us. Really proud moment,” Kuldeep Yadav had quoted after the game.
