Sometimes, you need a cool head operating while chasing a target as stiff as 206 runs in a T20 game. MS Dhoni, well he reminded everyone why he is regarded as one of the coolest head going around the cricket world. Cool as cucumber MS Dhoni along with Ambati Rayudu partnered for a 101-run stand to take the game closer.

Earlier, a masterful inning from AB de Villiers and equally superb knock from his fellow countryman Quinton de Kock saw The Royal Challengers Bangalore post a massive total. De Villiers started going bonkers as soon as he arrived in the middle. He hit 8 sixes in his innings of 68 which came in just 30 balls. De Kock smashed a half-century too and smashed 4 sixes in his knock of 37-ball 53. CSK bowlers hit back in the middle overs but a late flurry from Mandeep Singh and last 3-ball 14 runs from Washington Sundar made sure they go past 200.

Poor start for CSK in the run chase but Rayudu-Dhoni too hot to handle

CSK had a terrible start to the run chase when Shane Watson couldn’t do much. Raina, Billings, and Jadeja who got promoted at the top failed while opener Rayudu kept his end intact. Dhoni walked in with score reading 74-4 in the 9th over.

The duo then combined for a massive 101-run stand taking the game closer with every four and six. MS Dhoni who usually takes few deliveries to settle down in the middle attacked the bowlers from the start as he hit a six of just the 2nd ball that he faced. Rayudu smashed 8 sixes before getting run out trying to convert a misfield to two. However, Dhoni was there to take the game to the wire.

CSK needed 16 runs in the last over with Bravo on strike. He nicked one behind the wicket for a four and smashed a typical lofted shot over the covers for a six. Dhoni them smashed a six on the 4th ball of the over to seal the match.

Former Australia and CSK opener Mathew Hayden praised the innings of Dhoni and suggested that Dhoni is the real universe boss while Rayudu was Mr Iceman. Hayden said that the match makes IPL even more interesting and felt he can’t sleep after what he saw.
