MS Dhoni has scaled a lot of heights in his illustrious career both as a captain and a wicketkeeper. He is the only captain in the world to win World T20, Champions Trophy, and 50 overs World Cup. He also took India to the number 1 position in the Tests in 2009 for the first time ever.

He is currently at the fag end of his career and is only playing as the wicketkeeper-batsman in the team. But the veteran has still managed to trump Virat Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar to become the most admired sports personality in India. Overall, he is second on the list with the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi topping the charts.

According to the survey conducted by yougov.co.uk, Tendulkar is ranked the sixth while the Indian captain is eighth in the list of the most admired and followed sportspersons in India. The former is referred to as the ‘God of Cricket’ by his fans for his unmatched feats in the game and no wonder he still features in the top 10. Kohli, on the other hand, is currently the best cricketer in the country thanks to his dedication and passion towards the game.

He is currently in England gearing up for the gruelling five-match Test series which will commence on August 1. He is being tipped to scale a lot of heights during this series and plunder runs on will much like he does in other countries.

Who are the other sports personalities?

Interestingly, the Football players Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are the other two sportspersons who are most admired in India. While the latter bagged 2.6% of the votes in the survey, Messi managed to receive 2% of the total votes. Former England Footballer David Beckham has also made it to the list of most admirable personalities in India with 1.6% votes to his name.
