“I am getting updates through the media only, saying he has been training in Jharkhand in indoor nets. But we don’t have to worry about the skipper, boss. We don’t worry about him at all. He knows his responsibilities and he will take care of himself and the team,” he added.

Dhoni is all set to lead Chennai Super Kings in the thirteenth edition of the IPL, slated to start in the UAE from September 19th. Dhoni has been one of the most successful skippers of the cash-rich league, having led CSK to three IPL titles.

Dhoni’s return was delayed when the IPL was postponed due to the novel coronavirus pandemic. He had even led a training camp in Chennai in March but the camp was suspended as well due to the pandemic. Dhoni has kept mum over his international future but many fans believe that he would prove his worth by delivering in the IPL 2020.

Dhoni reportedly began training for IPL 2020, using the Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) indoor training facilities in Ranchi. Viswanathan said CSK are hoping to leave for the UAE from Chennai on August 21 after players assemble on August 14.

CSK will be hosting a camp for those available from August 15-20 and the franchise is awaiting permission from the Tamil Nadu government to do so. “It will be a skill-based plus training camp. It can’t immediately start off with skills because they are coming back after a long off,” Viswanathan revealed.
