The Indian Hockey side beat the Germany outfit 5-4 in a pulsating thriller to clinch the Bronze medal in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. This is a historic occasion for the Indian Hockey side, as this is the first time in four decades that the Indian Hockey side has won an Olympic medal.
And, amidst the euphoria surrounding this historic accomplishment by the Indian Hockey side, an old tweet from former Indian cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni has started doing the rounds on social media. The tweet from Dhoni dates back to 3rd October 2014, when he had congratulated the Indian hockey side for winning the Gold medal in the Asian Games.
The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) side had also beaten the Punjab Kings outfit in the semifinal of the Champions League tournament on the same day, but Dhoni was happier for the success of the Indian Hockey side than for the success of the CSK outfit.
“Outstanding day today not because CSK got into the finals but because INDIAN HOCKEY TEAM won the gold medal, thanks for making us proud,” Dhoni had tweeted.
