Tshwane Spartans are yet to play a completed game and has four points from a couple of called off ties. In their previous match against the Nelson Mandela Bay Giants at the SuperSport Park in Centurion, the hosts were reduced to 33 for the loss of four wickets in 7.1 overs. With their backs pushed to the walls, the heavens opened up and the match was called off at 19:36 local time.

Their next match is against the Paarl Rocks in the second of Sunday’s doubleheader at the Boland Park in Paarl. The Rocks, on the other hand, started with an 86-run victory over the Cape Town Blitz at home. Their second game against Durban Heat was abandoned. From two matches, the Rocks have seven points with a Net Run Rate of +4.300, the best thus far among the six teams in the MSL.

Pitch and Conditions

The pitch in the first game at the Boland Park was a rather slow one. Getting runs in the powerplay will be crucial as later, it may get difficult. Batting first should be the way forward for both the teams. There are no chances of rain and a full-game without an interruption could be expected. The temperature will be around the 22 degrees Celsius mark with the humidity mostly in the 30s.

The Rocks top-order was impressive in their only game. Henry Davids, Faf du Plessis and Dwaine Pretorius scored in the 30s, but got them in pretty quick succession. Cameron Delport looked in ominous touch as well. The middle order needs to perform a bit better though. Tabraiz Shamsi and Bjorn Fortuin looked in good rhythm. Viljoen, Udana and Adams also did their job effectively.
