Mumbai Indians have roped in West Indies pacer Jerome Taylor as a replacement for injured Lasith Malinga who was ruled out of the IPL 2016 following a knee injury. The 31-year-old will bring pace and accuracy to the MI bowling unit which boasts the likes of Mitchell McClenaghan, Jasprit Bumrah, and Tim Southee.

The BCCI in a press release said: “Mumbai Indians have called up West Indies fast bowler Jerome Taylor to replace the injured Sri Lankan paceman Lasith Malinga for the remainder of the IPL 2016. Taylor will be available for selection for MI subject to the completion of contractual paperwork formalities.”

Whether Taylor gets a place in the playing XI or not is uncertain since the bowling unit looks highly settled with both overseas bowlers, Mitch McClenaghan, and Tim Southee, being in good form.

The Mumbai Indians also welcomed the new member and announced his arrival on their official Twitter handle.

One of the biggest highlights of Jerome Taylor’s international career was when he became the first West Indian to take a hat-trick against Australian in the 2006 ICC Champions Trophy.

Taylor last played in the 2011 IPL, when he featured for the Pune Warriors India franchise. He picked up 6 wickets in that season. Apart from the Pune Warriors, he was also a part of the Kings XI Punjab franchise. He has played 20 T20Is for West Indies and picked up 24 wickets with the best of 3/6. He was a part of the West Indies team that recently won the World T20 in India.
