The Mumbai Indians have been the most successful team in the history of the IPL. They have won the title three times while CSK and KKR have won two each. The men in blue are known to start slow and playing the catching game later in the tournament. The players step up when it matters the most and deliver in the most impressive way. In the current season, MI started poorly but got back to winning ways later and find themselves in contention for the playoffs.

Exciting local talent

Owned by Nita Ambani, the franchise boasts of some of the top names in world cricket. Having said that it also provides opportunities to local talent who have gone to represent the country at the biggest stage. The likes of Saurabh Tiwary, Pradeep Sangwan and MD Nidheesh are currently on the books of Mumbai Indians are doing ever so well on the domestic circuit. The trio recently spoke to MI TV and revealed the secret behind their respective jersey numbers.

“My father was the 15th child born in the family and it is the same for me as well as I am also the 15th child in my family. And if you see, all my debut games for India or for the state, they were all on 15th,” said Saurabh Tiwary. MD Nidheesh has the number 68 on his back because he likes the number 6 and 8.

“Before the U-19 World Cup, I had picked number 18 as my jersey number. But skipper Virat Kohli took that number for the tournament and since then, he has been using it. But my mother had suggested the number 18 to me and since then, I have been using this particular number,” said Pradeep Sangwan.

Mumbai Indians will face the Delhi Daredevils in their final encounter. It is a must-win game for Mumbai and a lot will also depend on the result of the match between RCB and RR. The net run rate is going to play a huge role in this stage of the tournament. However, MI need not worry much about their NRR as it has one of the best NRR’s among the eight franchises.
