Earlier yesterday (April 24), Sachin Tendulkar celebrated his 45th birthday. The date is nothing short of a day of national celebration for the people in India. Popularly known as “God of Cricket”, Tendulkar devoted 25 years of his life to cricket. In this process, he has amassed over 34000 international runs. Such records remain a dream to most of the cricketers and they look down upon Sachin as their role model and try to emulate him.

And on his 45th birthday, thousands of wishes poured in for Tendulkar from both his contemporaries and veterans alike. Mumbai Police was also not behind, as they went ahead to wish Sachin Tendulkar on his birthday. The ‘Little Master’ is one of the supporters of road safety regulations as well. Previously, Tendulkar has done his bit for the police as he himself tweeted asking people to wear helmets and seatbelts for safety.

Mumbai Police posted a small collage of pictures of Sachin Tendulkar. In all three pictures, the cricketing legend is seen either wearing or holding his helmet with the writing, “Being worn by the God of Cricket since 1989.” The image was captioned saying, “The Little Master set great records wearing a helmet! How about simply following his footsteps?”

The trendsetter

Tendulkar made his foray into international cricket at the age of 16, a time when most are still learning. His prodigy on the pitch needs no introduction. He is the only man on the face of the planet with a hundred hundreds in the game, the first cricketer in the history of the sport to score a double ton in One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and the list could go on and on.

Though four years have passed since his retirement, Tendulkar continues to rule the hearts of millions of fans. He continues to inspire thousands of young players who wish to take cricket as their profession.
