Mumbai skipper Shreyas Iyer lauds Yashasvi Jaiswal after scoring a double century

From making his list A debut just a few days ago to registering his name in the record books, – Yashasvi Jaiswal’s cricketing journey has been no less than an inspiration. The 17-year-old batsman has suddenly risen to fame after his brilliant run in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy.

After scoring two centuries against Goa and Kerala, the Mumbai batsman has now scored an exhilarating double century against Jharkhand on Wednesday. With this, he also achieved the feat of being the youngest player to score a double ton in List A cricket. Yashasvi Jaiswal now has three 100+ scores in the 5 games he has played in the tourney hitherto.

Under Shreyas Iyer‘s leadership, Jharkhand asked Mumbai to bat first. Jaiswal was sent to start the proceedings for his team and he went on to build a massive 200-run partnership with Aditya Tare. Although Tare was dismissed, the UP-born went on to score a magnificent knock of 203 runs in 154 balls including 12 sixes and 17 fours. He also achieved the feat of hitting most no. of sixes in an innings in Vijay Hazare Trophy.

Meanwhile, after the game ended, fans and experts showered praises on Yashasvi Jaiswal. Mumbai skipper Shreyas Iyer also posted an appreciation tweet for his teammate. Iyer, who also played a 31-run cameo in the game, posted a selfie with the man of the moment and praised him through the caption.

“203 today from this baller. Yashasvi Jaiswal, what a talent!! What a performance!!” wrote Iyer on his official twitter handle.

Apart from Iyer, many other cricketing pundits and ex-players also showered heaps of praises on Yashasvi Jaiswal. The likes of Aakash Chopra and VVS Laxman appreciated the bloke’s efforts.

One of the main reasons behind so much hype for the knock is the fact that it came against a tight Jharkhand bowling attack, which consists of the likes of Anukul Roy & Shahbaz Nadeem. The inning consisted both – brutal force and finesse – and has made Jaiswal’s name popular in every household.
