Bangladeshi captain Mushfiqur Rahim hasn’t had the best of times on the field, yesterday he appealed against Cheteshwar Pujara for a caught behind when the ball was nowhere near his bat or even pads. Later they took an lbw review against Virat Kohli when he had perfectly defended the ball off the middle of the bat. Today, Mushfiqur was tame with his glove work as well.

India’s wicketkeeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha went all the way down the wicket against Bangladesh off-spinner Mehedi Hasan to hit a big one over the infield but completely missed the ball. Mushfiqur collected it and moved his hands in reflex keeper motion towards the stumps. But surprisingly he was a bit to behind the wickets and couldn’t reach out to dislodge the bails. He attempted again but somehow his gloves didn’t meet the stumps.

Eventually, in the third attempt, he disturbed the stumps but Saha by then had enough time to get his bat back in the crease. Mushfiqur knew he made a blunder and so didn’t really appeal on that one, his teammates did though and the decision was referred to the third umpire who saw the replay in slow frames and it was evident that just before he hit the stumps and the bails were out of the grooves the bat had touched back in.

The Indian team score was 466/4 then and the Bengal lad was batting on just 4. Team India declared the first innings having scored 687 runs for the loss of 6 wickets and Saha scored his second Test hundred and was batting on 106 from 155 balls, he hit just 7 boundaries and just two sixes one of which got him into the triple figures.

Indian batsmen batted exceptionally but Bangladesh have their own mistakes to blame for conceding a huge total and virtually the match as well.
