Legendary Pakistan pacer Waqar Younis believes Bangladesh’s Mustafizur Rahman is currently going through a bad phase but will come back strong. The 45-year-old suggested that Mustafizur is quite a talented and priceless asset for Bangladeshi cricket.

Younis was invited to Bangladesh by BPL team Sylhet Sixers and on his way to Sylhet from Dhaka, he had a little chat with a few reporters. “Mustafizur is a quality bowler. He is passing some bad time now. But he will come back strongly very soon.”

Arguably one of the greatest fast bowlers in cricket history, Waqar believes no bowler can be judged based on a couple of performances. He also said that South Africa isn’t an easy place to bowl for a first timer and by playing frequently in such type of conditions, their bowlers will improve and pose a serious threat to big teams.

“South Africa has always been a tough place for the bowlers. A bowler can’t be great by playing only two Test matches there. It is required to play many matches there,” said Waqar.

Bangladesh needs overseas exposure

Bangladesh’s recent outing in the series against South Africa turned out to be a catastrophe for the former. The Proteas dismantled them in every department of the game in Test series and inflicted an ever disastrous result on them in the ODI series. South Africa registered 350+ scores on two occasions and chased down 280 in another game without losing a wicket.

Waqar Younis believes if they travel overseas on regular intervals, they can improve their game across all departments. Bangladesh didn’t travel a lot in the last couple of years and most of their triumphs came in their backyard or on Asian tracks. He said they can get used to the weather and pitch conditions by playing away from home.

“If they play more and more matches outside the home, they can get used to the condition and wicket. So Bangladesh needs to play more away matches,” added the speedster.
