India batter Suryakumar Yadav has been one of the bright spots for India in the limited-overs formats over the last 18 months or so. He has managed to play a lot of matches the team played during this period and has sort of sealed his place in both ODI and T20I sides. He recently slammed a century against England in the third T20I but unfortunately, his knock went in vain. Surya batted decently in the second ODI against England as well scoring 27 runs off 29 deliveries, but overall India’s batting capitulated in a tricky run chase.

Speaking about his game in the 50-over format compared to the T20Is, Surya stated that he likes to play his natural game irrespective of the format. He also cited the importance of rotating the strike in the One-Day Internationals and also felt that the rules make it important for the batters to keep on the intent of playing the shots.

“My mindset is the same in ODIs, I try to bat similar to how I do in T20. Playing the natural game is important and there is an advantage in one days that five fielders are inside the circle so the intent is always to score runs. Even if the wickets are falling I try to keep the scoreboard ticking,” Suryakumar said in the press conference,” Surya said in the press conference ahead of the third ODI against England.

Surya laments not winning 3rd T20I for India

Suryakumar Yadav received massive praises for his splendid century in the third and final T20I against England. He took the attack to the home team despite India struggling in the steep chase. Though he is extremely happy to have scored his maiden T20I century, Surya is gutted that he couldn’t win the game for India.

“It is a good motivation, obviously I was happy and there was an opportunity to make the team win. It feels nice that people expect from me. I got motivation form that to perform for the team, win the match,” he added.
