Indian skipper Virat Kohli is one of the most celebrated sportspersons in the world currently, and his every move is worth a mention for those who follow the game religiously. Very often we have seen players sweating it out at the nets wearing white thigh pads. These kits have one thing in common, the signature on them. From the likes of Sachin Tendulkar to Australia’s Steve Smith, the best in the business were seen putting on these protective gears.

Some cricket followers believe that it must be a ‘good luck’ charm just like the one we see on the back of the cricket willow. Remember Gautam Gambhir piling up runs in the World T20 in 2007 with a bat presented to him along with the autograph by none other than Virender Sehwag. In a similar way, many thought these must be a gesture by the senior players or fellow colleagues.

When the official page of the Indian cricket team posted few pictures of Kohli practicing in the nets wearing one of the signed kits, many believed that it must be the signature of actress Anushka Sharma. Well, to all those who almost submerged themselves into a Bollywood drama, it’s time for a wake-up call.

Mystery revealed

The autograph belongs to Steve Remfry. He along with his staff have been producing custom made arm guards, thigh pads, chest guards, inside thigh pads and shin guards for world-class cricketers since 1987. Remfry has provided gears to the likes of Allan Border, Graham Gooch, Sunil Gavaskar and Shane Warne amongst many.

It has been reported that Kohli ordered two more pairs of the guard and it is believed that he liked it. So next time you see Kohli playing those silken drives or power-packed pulls, take a close eye on the much talked about autograph.
