N Srinivasan used BCCI money to hire spy for other BCCI members: The BCCI’s Working committee in Kolkata could also bring some fresh trouble for former BCCI chief N. Srinivasan. Already Srinivasan is set to have a bad time regarding the valuation of Chennai Super Kings.

Apart from undervaluing the CSK franchise, Srinivasan is also accused of allegedly paying Rs 14 crores to a London-based private agency to spy on other BCCI members. Those 14 crores belong to the board and Srinivasan has ordered them to tap the phones and track e-mails of BCCI members.

According to reports in NDTV, BCCI is expected to launch an official enquiry into the matter that is expected to be headed by Anurag Thakur. The board will investigate why the former BCCI boss allegedly snooped on other members and who authorised him to spend the board’s money for it in the first place.

The Board is also expected to investigate the issue of CSK owners valuing their team at Rs 5 Lakh only. According to reports, the Rajiv Shukla led IPL governing council has not accepted this valuation. Reports suggest that the IPL governing council is not happy with CSK’s new value. As per the BCCI rules, 5 per cent of the sale price of any team must be given to the BCCI.

The BCCI will also put an end to the Champions League T20 tournament as it has been a loss for the sponsors since it was first played in 2009 with constant changes in sponsorship. Airtel signed a five year deal before they withdrew their sponsorship in 2011 followed by Nokia, Karbonn Mobiles and Oppo. But scrapping it may still be a complex issue. Since 2012, the CLT20 has featured four IPL sides. Domestic T20 sides from five other countries could also incur massive financial losses if the tournament is discontinued.
