Just a few days after former skipper Shahid Afridi lashed out at the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), the chairman of the board, Najam Sethi has finally agreed to honor both Shahid Afridi as well as Saeed Ajmal with a sendoff befitting their respective contributions to Pakistan cricket in the past years.

Shortly after the World T20 debacle, skipper Shahid Afridi was somewhat ‘dishonorably discharged’ from the cricket team after which he went on to post a video on social media apologizing to his fans for letting them down. However, despite that the PCB terminated the contract they had with Afridi, eventually meaning an end to his international cricketing career.

In a Tweet, Najam Sethi stated that the PCB would discuss with the players regarding the send-offs they deserved. His tweet read: “.@HashmeNabeel @TheRealPCB Agreed. PCB will honour Afridi and Ajmal in fitting sendoffs. I will meet and discuss this with them next week.” Interestingly, it was a Pakistan fan who asked him to do the same.

Earlier in the week, Shahid Afridi had lashed out at the PCB regarding some of the farewells given to the players in the past. “I wanted to retire after the World T20 in India and unfortunately it didn’t pan out the way I or my fans had wished since we bowed out in the first round,” he had exclaimed earlier.

The PCB had planned the West Indies series to be the chance for Afridi to bid goodbye to his international career, but the idea was dropped due to an internal reason.
