The Nepal team made its One-Day International debut on the tour of Netherlands where they played the home team in a two-match series. They were given a taste of how difficult the format can get in the maiden match by the Netherlands with a 55-run defeat. However, Paras Khadka’s team made a brilliant comeback to level the series 1-1. In the second ODI debutant, Rohit Kumar took a brilliant catch which was one of the highlights in the Dutch team’s innings.

Batting first Nepal had a poor start with the top three failing to contribute anything substantial. However, half centuries from skipper Khadka and all-rounder Sompal Kami helped the team to 216. The home team looked pretty stable in the chase but a middle-order collapse and some tight bowling by the Nepalese bowlers ensured that they couldn’t score the required 2 runs on the last ball.

During the second innings, Lalit Bhandari was bowling at Ben Cooper, the second ball of the eight over was pitched on the off-stump and the batsman was looking to play it on the on-side. The ball took a leading edge from his bat and went pretty high in the air. The fielders in the 30-yard circle were inside and it appeared as if the ball would fly over their head.

Rohit Paudel, however, didn’t give up on it. He had his eyes on the ball and decided to run behind and attempt the catch. He finally launched for the ball when it was certain that he would reach out with one hand and grabbed a really tough catch. Cooper batting on 19 was just looking to get going having already struck four boundaries but Nepal got the wicket just at the right time.

It was the debut game for 15-year-old Rohit and he became the 4th youngest cricketer to make his debut at 15 years and 335 days.

Here is the video of his catch:
