New Zealand brought an end to their 18-year wait for a Test series win against England as their lower order survived nearly two sessions in a thriller at the Hagley Oval. The hosts needed a draw to secure a series win but lost two wickets off the first two balls of the final day’s play. Ish Sodhi (56*) batted 25.5 overs along with Colin de Grandhomme sharing a 57-run stand for the 7th wicket. Sodhi got support from Neil Wagner who faced 103 deliveries as the pair batted out 31.2 overs. Joe Root dismissed Wagner in the dying minutes and the time ran out of England’s hands.
