The Saxton Oval will be hosting the crucial 3rd game of the 5-match T20I series between New Zealand and England which is currently tied at 1-1. The visiting team England won the first T20I in Christchurch as they comfortably chased down the target of 154. In the second T20I in Wellington, the hosts bounced back with a 21-run win. Chasing 177 to win, the England team kept losing wickets though the required rate was in check till the 17th over. They were eventually bowled out for 155 in the final over of the game.

1 – The 3rd T20I game between New Zealand and England will be hosted by Saxton Oval. The venue has stood host for only one T20I thus far – New Zealand vs West Indies in 2017. The hosts won the game comfortably by 47 run-margin.

The venue has hosted a total of 12 Twenty20 games thus far with the previous six matches been won by the sides batting first. The teams batting first won nine of the 12 T20 matches at the Saxton Oval while the chasing teams won only three.


6 – The defeat in the previous match brought an end to England’s 6-match winning streak in the T20I format. In fact, England won each of their last 5 T20Is while chasing before the 21-run defeat on Sunday. Since the start of 2018, England lost only two of the seven T20Is while chasing, both the defeats coming at Wellington.


14.3 – Tom Curran has a bowling strike rate of 14.3 in the Twenty20 format this year. He bagged 36 wickets from 25 T20s in 2019 till date. Only Khaleel Ahmed (37 @ 11.4) has taken more wickets than Tom Curran at a better strike rate in 2019 T20s.


50 – Ish Sodhi (46) needs four more wickets to become the 3rd player to claim 50 wickets in the T20I format for New Zealand. Only Tim Southee (73) and Nathan McCullum (58) have picked more than 50 T20I wickets for the Black Caps. Mitchell Santner (44) also needs six wickets for joining the 50-wickets club.


199 – Number of sixes Martin Guptill has struck in International cricket on New Zealand soil. He needs one more maximum to become only the 3rd player to hit 200 International sixes in a country. Brendon McCullum hit 230 sixes in New Zealand across all International formats while Chris Gayle struck 212 sixes in the Caribbean Islands.


1022 – Runs James Vince has amassed in the Twenty20 format in 2019; the most by any player across both the squads this year. Vince scored those 1,022 runs from 33 innings at an average of 35.24 with 8 fifties.


7966 – Ross Taylor has 7,966 runs from 183 International matches in New Zealand. He needs 34 more runs to complete 8,000 International runs on New Zealand soil and become the first player to achieve the milestone.


9924 – Eoin Morgan needs 76 more runs to complete 10,000 runs in International cricket. Morgan has amassed 9,180 runs for England after aggregating 744 runs for the Ireland team.
