New Zealand have managed to avenge their 5-0 T20I defeat over India, putting forth some sterling shows in the three-match ODI series. The Black Caps have already taken an unassailable 2-0 lead with a solitary match remaining on Tuesday, February 11 at the Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui. The Kiwis found themselves in precious states in both the ODIs in Hamilton and Auckland respectively.

However, they came back strong on both instances.  Going into the last match of the series, New Zealand have won three out eight games at the Bay Oval. But all of them have come against Sri Lanka. South Africa, England and India have defeated them in the other five matches. Last year in January 2019, the Men in Blue came out trumps by 90 runs and seven wickets respectively.

Pitch and Conditions

The pitch in Mount Maunganui has been a decent one for batting. The average score at the venue is around 280, suggesting that a fairly high-scoring game seems to be in store. Both the chasing and defending teams have tasted similar amount of success. The conditions will be sunny with no chances of rain. The temperature will start at 24 degrees and will come down to 19 degrees.

Team Combination

New Zealand

Tim Southee and Mitchell Santner are doubtful starters as the duo is battling gastro. Hence, Ish Sodhi and Blair Tickner have been added back to the squad Scott Kuggelejin has been suffering from viral fever. Williamson is likely to be back after missing the first two ODIs due to shoulder injury.

Jamieson is likely to retain his spot after his Player of the Match show on debut. Ross Taylor, Henry Nicholls and Martin Guptill are in excellent form. But Latham missed out after impressing in the first ODI. The Kiwis’ bowling has put forth a collective effort and there hasn’t been a standout performer.

Probable XI

Martin Guptill, Henry Nicholls, Kane Williamson (C), Ross Taylor, Tom Latham (WK), James Neesham, Colin de Grandhomme, Mitchell Santner/Ish Sodhi, Tim Southee/Blair Tickner, Hamish Bennett, Kyle Jamieson.

India

India may bring back Mohammed Shami, resting Jasprit Bumrah, who hasn’t looked at his best thus far. Navdeep Saini and Ravindra Jadeja haven’t picked up a whole lot of wickets, but has been frugal with economy rate under five. Shardul Thakur has an economy of 7.36, though he has three wickets.

Chahal was pretty impressive with the ball with three wickets last time. In batting, Iyer has 155 runs, but he would be gutted with throwing his wicket away to a rash shot in Auckland. Virat Kohli is yet to come to his own. The openers- Mayank Agarwal and Prithvi Shaw- have flattered to deceive as well.

Probable XI

Prithvi Shaw, Mayank Agarwal, Virat Kohli (C), Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul (WK), Manish Pandey, Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Navdeep Saini, Yuzvendra Chahal, Mohammed Shami/Jasprit Bumrah.

Probable Top Performers
