Virat Kohli is without a doubt the greatest batsman in action today across the three formats. He has proved himself time and again against any challenge that has been thrown upto him in different conditions. For instance, his past scores in England in the longest format had raised doubts on whether he will be able to tackle the same challenge after four years.

Although India lost the Test series Kohli had reigned supreme in his batting, scoring over 500 runs and being named the man of the series. In spite of this, his leadership has slightly been under scrutiny with few experts questioning his captaincy. Former English batsman Nick Compton is one of whom who has raised concerns over Kohli’s leadership skills. Compton said via Twitter that Kohli does get the best out of himself, however, he had questions about whether he gets the best out of his team.

Constant changing and chopping has led to underperformance

The former right-handed batsman emphasized that the constant changing and chopping of the players has led to the side not performing consistently in crucial circumstances. For instance, the top three for India in limited-overs cricket is very well settled, however, it is the brittle middle order which has cost India a win on quite a few occasions.

Compton also stated that Kohli also can be too aggressive as a captain of the side. Meanwhile, he also supports Sourav Ganguly to be appointed as the President of the BCCI.

Nevertheless, under Virat, India has transformed into a fighting side. The scoreline in England and South Africa suggested otherwise, mainly due to India’s faltering batting order.

Virat Kohli will return to action against Australia where they’ll play four Tests, three ODIs and three T20Is. India’s main focus would be on the Test series as they embark on the mission to win their first ever series on Australian soil. The first Test starts at Adelaide on December 6th.
