Nidahas Trophy is set to begin on Tuesday which will be one of the rare Triangular T20I series played between the full member nations. The tournament, which is marked to be a celebration of Sri Lanka’s 70th year of Independence, will kick start in Colombo with the hosts taking on India. Rohit Sharma, the stand-in captain, will have a challenge of leading a young team compared to his previous assignments. Sri Lanka will be coming into the tournament with the confidence they gained after sweeping the trophies in all three formats in Bangladesh tour.

All the stats and numbers to be looked out ahead of the opening game of Nidahas Trophy:

4 – India won all the four T20I games they played under Rohit Sharma. He is the first Indian captain and one of the six captains to win each of their first four T20I matches.


7 – India defeated Sri Lanka in each of their last seven meetings in the T20I format. Sri Lanka won four of the first seven T20Is between the two sides but India lead the head to head by 10-4. India defeated Sri Lanka in all the three games they played in Sri Lanka.


7-1 – India’s win-loss record in the T20I format they played in Sri Lanka. They won seven out of the eight T20Is only losing against Australia in 2012 WT20. Their record at the Premadasa Stadium in this format is 6-1.


25.05 – Batting average of Rohit Sharma in his last 20 innings in T20I cricket. He scored 476 runs in those innings at an S/R of 155.56 with one century and two fifties.


50.89 – KL Rahul’s batting average in the T20I format is the best for any player with 400+ runs. He scored 458 runs in 11 innings with a century and three fifties. He couldn’t make it to the Indian XI in the T20I series in South Africa tour.


201 – India’s average total in their previous six T20Is while batting first (Full 20-over games). In these six games, India made 200+ on three occasions and 180+ in other two games. Their total of 172/7 in the recent most game in Cape Town was their lowest of these six matches.


411Rishabh Pant aggregated 411 runs during the 2017/18 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He scored his run at an average of 45.67 and an S/R of 195.71 in the tournament where he recorded the 2nd fastest T20 century off 32 balls. Pant ended up as the joint leading run-getter of the tournament along with Kedar Devdhar. No player scored over 400 runs in a Mushtaq Ali season before these two players.
