Bangladesh’s win in the 3rd game spiced up the Nidahas Trophy with the three teams tied on two points after the first round matches. In these circumstances, the Sri Lanka-India game will be crucial in deciding the road to final as the losing team will face a virtual knockout situation. Sri Lanka will be relying on the aggressive batting that fetched them results but lack the depth with the bat. Rohit Sharma’s form has been a worrying factor for India and so their middle order’s consistency.

All the stats and numbers to look out for ahead of the crucial game between Sri Lanka and India:

1 – Sri Lanka’s win in the opening game of the tournament was their first win against India in the last eight T20I meetings. India defeated the Lankans in seven consecutive T20Is before that game. It was also the first T20I win at home for Sri Lanka against India.


4 – The toss winning teams elected to bowl first in each of the last four T20I matches at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. The chasing teams won by 5+ wickets margin in all those four games.


13Sri Lanka lost 13 out of the 16 T20I matches they played at the Colombo’s Premadasa Stadium. Their win in the opening game was their 3rd win at the venue. India have won seven out of the nine games they played in Colombo and lost in two matches.


18.67 – Rohit Sharma’s T20I batting average at the RPS in Colombo. This is the 2nd worst T20I batting average for an Indian at a venue. Rohit scored 112 runs in eight innings with a best of unbeaten 55. Shikhar Dhawan averages 18.33 at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka.

Rohit’s average of 18.67 is the 3rd worst for any player in Colombo after Shahid Afridi’s 17.28 and Mohammad Hafeez’s 17.33.


50.89 – Batting average of KL Rahul in the T20I format. This is the best average for any player with 400+ T20I runs. Rahul scored 458 runs in 11 innings with a century and three fifties. India left him out of the playing XI in their previous five T20I matches.


57.60 – Shikhar Dhawan averaging 57.60 in the five T20Is he played in 2018. He scored 288 runs in the five innings at an S/R of 155.67 with three fifties. In his first 28 innings, Dhawan scored 543 runs with three fifties at an average of 21.72 and S/R of 118.3.


598 – Number of boundary fours for Rohit Sharma in the Twenty20 format so far. He needs to hit two more fours for becoming the 5th Indian player to hit 600 fours in this format.
