With the much-awaited 13th edition of the Indian Premier League less than three weeks away, all the eight franchises and their players are quite active on their respective social media handles and often share updates regarding their training and practice in UAE. The 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League was supposed to start from March 29 but was delayed in the view of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and now has been moved out of the country.

On September 2, the Indian government took a harsh decision of banning 118 Chinese apps including PUBG. The decision has come amidst the cross-border tensions between the Indian and Chinese troopers. This announcement came two months after the authorities had banned 59 Chinese apps including Tik Tok.

Following the government’s decision of banning PUBG, social media was flooded with hilarious memes and edits. The mobile game was quite famous in the cricket fraternity as Indian cricketers including the likes of MS Dhoni, Mohammad Shami, KL Rahul, Hardik Pandya and many others used to play the game religiously.

Seeing this new trend on social media, the official Twitter handle of Kings XI Punjab also took a hilarious jibe on the ban. Though the tweet didn’t mention the name of the app, the fans were quick to notice what the franchise wanted to say.

KXIP shared a picture of their power-hitter batsman Chris Gayle, who recently joined their training camp in Dubai after serving a mandatory six-day quarantine period locked in a hotel room. In the candid picture, Gayle can be seen sporting a big smile.

They captioned the picture as “TFW you know there’s no ban on chicken for dinner.”

KXIP IPL journey

In the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League, which is slated to begin from September 19, the IPL franchise Kings XI Punjab would be looking forward to winning its maiden T20 title. The team had finished at the sixth position in the points table last year under the leadership of Ravichandran Ashwin. However, the franchise had traded the Indian spinner to Delhi Capitals ahead of this season.

This time the swashbuckling batsman KL Rahul will be leading the team for the first time. Notably, Rahul was the highest run-getter for the franchise with 593 runs in 14 matches in IPL 2019. Also, the team has acquired the services of former Indian captain Anil Kumble as the Director of Cricket Operations and Head Coach.
