It is a known fact that India and Pakistan have not been indulging in any sort of bilateral series owing to the tense political situation between the two nations. The two nations now only play each other in the ICC events. However, in the latest turn of events, a report from Pakistan emerged surfaced that stated that India and Pakistan are all set to play bilateral series again in near future.

Reacting to the same report, BCCI Vice President Rajiv Shukla stated, that there is no such discussion in the board. He also made it clear that India cannot play with the neighbouring nation until and unless a nod is given by the Indian government in the future.

“No such discussion has taken place within the board. Our stand has been the same in the last ten years. Unless we get approval from the government, we can’t have a bilateral series with Pakistan,” Shukla said in a talk with Dainik Jagran.

As per the reports, the apex board of Pakistan cricket has been told to be prepared for the epic clash between arch-rivals. Since the two nations only play in ICC events, fans have to wait long enough for the mouth-watering contest all the time. After the same reports, former Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi also voiced his opinion and said that only cricket can improve the sour relations between India and Pakistan.

You can improve India-Pakistan relations only through sports: Afridi

“Cricket between Pakistan and India is very important. Sports should be kept away from politics. Relations between the two countries can improve because of cricket. I have said this before as well, Indian cricketers enjoy coming to Pakistan. You can improve relationships through sports, but if you don’t want to improve them, then they will remain the same way,” said Afridi.

India and Pakistan locked horns with each other for the last time in the ICC World Cup 2019, where the Men in Blue dominated their arch-rivals and continued their unbeaten streak against them in the World Cup history.
