Ever since Virat Kohli, the Indian batsman, started dominating bowlers from all around the world, especially in limited-overs cricket, people from every nook and corner of the globe have drawn his parallels with the legendary Sachin Tendulkar, who is the owner of 100 international centuries. On the other hand, Kohli has gone from strength to strength and hasn’t looked back.

In a career, which has spanned only a bit more than 10 years, the 30-year-old has a plethora of records under his belt, one them being the fastest to 10,000 ODI runs, surpassing Sachin. The Delhi-born is expected to be a vital cog in the Indian team, going into the World Cup in England and Wales. Former Australian player Michael Clarke has no doubt Kohli is the greatest one day batter ever.

“To me, Virat Kohli is the greatest batsman to have ever played one-day cricket. I have no doubts after seeing what he has achieved for India. You have to respect Virat’s passion to win games for his country. Yes, he has aggression but no one can question his commitment, how much he has achieved. He is the greatest in ODIs,” Clarke was quoted as saying in The Times of India (TOI).

A decent series Down Under for Virat

Virat recently played three-match ODI series against Australia and turned out to be the fourth-highest run scorer of the series with 153 runs at an average of 51. He floundered in the opening match at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) where he was dismissed for three by pacer Jhye Richardson.

However, he came into his own and racked up his 39th ODI century at the Adelaide Oval. The knock also helped his team draw level in the series. Even in the third and deciding encounter at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), he scored 46 runs from 62 balls when India lost a couple of early wickets.
