The Punjab Kings went down to northern rivals Rajasthan Royals by six wickets in their last encounter at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on May 7. PBKS need to win all their remaining fixtures to keep their playoff hopes alive with the league stage nearing its business end.

Meanwhile, some of the members of the Punjab-based franchise were involved in a hilarious interactive session ahead of their next encounter and one of the participants was their pace spearhead Kagiso Rabada. During the session, the tearaway Proteas fast bowler’s Bollywood knowledge was tested and that is what stood out the most.

Kagiso Rabada’s tribute to actor Salman Khan

Rabada was asked whether he knows Bollywood megastar Salman Khan, to which he replied saying, “No, I know Rashid Khan.” However, the South African speedster tried his level best in enacting one of Salman’s famous dialogues from the 2009 Bollywood blockbuster Wanted, “ek baar jo maine commitment kar di fir mai apne baap ki bhi nahi sunta“.

Along with Kagiso Rabada, Odean Smith and Australia’s Nathan Ellis attended the event. While Odean Smith enacted Sunny Deol’s dialogue “Taareekh pe taareekh, taareekh pe taareekh” from the movie ‘Damini’, Ellis gave tribute to the ‘King of Bollywood’ Shah Rukh Khan with his signature dialogue “Picture abhi baki hai mere dost” from the movie ‘Om Shanti Om’.

While it was all fun and games, PBKS now need to take care of their campaign as far as the on-field action is concerned. They currently occupy the seventh position in the points table with five wins from 11 matches and 10 points to their tally. With time running out, the Punjab-based franchise need to win big from hereon to have a superior net run rate as they eye their first playoffs spot since the 2014 edition.

PBKS will next be seen in action against the Royal Challengers Bangalore at Mumbai’s Brabourne Stadium on May 13 (Friday).
