Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan is a die-hard cricket lover. Like several other cricket fans in India, he too adores the Indian cricket team. There have been numerous occasions where the legend of Indian cinema has spoken about Indian cricket, or has discussed about their performances. Thus, he congratulated India on their most recent victory against South Africa in the first of the three-match Test series.

After the Kohli-led side’s ecstatic victory over South Africa at the Centurion on Thursday, senior Bachchan took to Twitter to express his joy over the memorable win. He even went on to say that this wasn’t an emerging India, but an emerged India.

“T 4145 – COME ONNNNNNNNNN INDIA .. BEAT SOUTH AFRICA in Test .. Congratulations Team .. so proud of you .. no longer the emerging India .. its the YOUNG EMERGED INDIA !!” read his Tweet.

India conquer Centurion

India have had a dream run in 2021, at least in the longest format of the game. While the year started with the Asian giants miraculously winning at the Gabba, it has ended with them demolishing the hosts at the Centurion.

An important point to be noted is the fact that the World Test Championship (WTC) finalists played all their Tests against top teams this year, yet emerged victorious on most of the occasions. However, while there were a few nervous moments throughout the first Test, the win was pretty comprehensive, to say the least.

After winning the toss and electing to bat first, the visitors got to 327 owing to a spectacular century by their opener KL Rahul. While the Elgar-led side were then bundled for 197, they came back with the ball to dismiss India for 174 in the third-innings. Having to chase 305 in the fourth-innings, the Proteas kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Despite some solid resilience by their skipper Dean Elgar, they went on to lose the game by 113 runs.

Indian pacer Mohammed Shami was the star with the ball as he took eight wickets in the Test match. Thus, KL Rahul was awarded the Player of the Match award for his fabulous hundred. Moreover, India ended their year in style. In this year, only Pakistan have more away Test wins than India.
