Former England batsman James Taylor’s cricketing career came to an abrupt end after he was diagnosed with an incurable heart condition. Taylor represented England in 27 ODI’s, scoring 887 runs at an impressive average of 42.23, along with a century and seven fifties. He has also played 7 Test matches (complete winter series last year against South Africa), notching up 312 runs with a best of 76 before retiring with immediate effect after being treated for ARVC (Arrhythmogenic Right Ventricular Cardiomyopathy).

But that didn’t stop the Nottingham man from interacting with his fans on Twitter, a social media platform through which Taylor received a lot of love and support during the dark days. He had earlier said, “I was in hospital for a week before anybody knew about it. I had 26 million tweets to me, about me, in the first two hours of the news coming out and it got to 60 million in 24 hours – which is phenomenal”.

The 26-year-old started a question-answer session with his followers on Twitter today with a hashtag #questiontime and tried answering most of their queries. He named Virat Kohli as his favorite Indian cricketer. On being asked about the best England cricketer in the current set up, Taylor named all-rounder Ben Stokes as the best player.

One of his fans asked him if he had the opportunity to bat with any other player who would it have been. James replied saying he would have loved to bat with South Africa’s maestro AB de Villiers.

He picked the name of England Test skipper Alastair Cook when a fan asked him a tricky question to pick either Kevin Pietersen or Cook. What was more fun was when he was asked to pick one between the two English bowlers- Stuart Broad or James Anderson. Surprisingly, Taylor didn’t pick either and rather decided to go with Chris Woakes. He recalled the funniest incident as the one when his fellow team-mate spinner Samit Patel slipped between the wickets while playing for Nottinghamshire.
